My friend and I were chatting recently how this first photo was one of (if not the only one) that exists when I had lost control of my weight and most importantly of my inner narrative. That horrible self-talk that I wouldn’t dare say to anyone else.

I felt so out of my mind and body. My self-esteem and confidence suffered tremendously. Cameras were something I ran from. I did not want to look in the mirror let alone document myself in pictures.

It was tough. Changing my eating habits was tough. Getting a fitness routine going was tough. Educating myself on overall wellness was tough. But most of all, changing my mindset was the toughest. It took a lot of work. Ongoing work. Work I still do every single day.

But I remind myself that I am resilient, that I want to be healthy and strong and that above all I want to be unapologetically myself. After all, we start by putting one foot in front of the other and with a bit of determination and dedication, we can truly achieve anything. ...
